Learn to Play Silent Night on the Ukulele
Christmas is still a few months away, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still play Christmas songs on your ukulele. Silent night is a very popular Christmas song to play on the ukulele and today I’ve got a simple, four-chord strum-along. (I’m planning to add a more complicated version and a melody tab so you can play a duet).
There are four chords in this basic version of silent night. They are
Silent night is in 6/8, what that means is there are six “eighth” beats or quavers.
While you can just strum on every beat (especially if someone is playing a melody or singing), a more effective strumming simple strumming pattern is a 1, (pause) 2, 3, 1 held.
That is a downstroke, pause, downstroke, upstroke, downstroke, rest.
